The Faith | ByTheWell4God “Contending for the Faith”

After taking some time to read through the new devotional from ByTheWell4God, “Contending for the Faith”, and pulling together a cart (see my cart video HERE) full of goodies to work with, I was ready to start creating some Bible journaling entries.

Here’s a look at the first entry I created for Day 3 of the devotional – The Faith.

All products will be linked throughout the post at the end of each section to make it easier for you to see what products were used.

I started this page by blending Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink onto the background using a fluffy blush brush (yup, a make up brush). I also blended the same ink through the “Twist in Time” stencil in a few areas to create a tone on tone look.

Using just my fingers to hold the stamp, I randomly stamped some gears from the “Gears for the Called” stamp with Pumice Stone Distress Oxide Ink.

To finish off the background I splattered Old Paper Distress Oxide Spray and then lightly misted the page with water after first drying the inks to add even more texture since I’d used Oxide products that react with water.

I started to build up my cluster of layers and wanted to incorporate this grungy faux metal piece I had created. You can find a process video for how I created this faux metal look HERE and it was fairly simple to do.

The rest of the details in the cluster were a mix of pieces from the “Contending for the Faith” devotional kit and add ons. I also created some faux buttons using a Taryn’s tutorial found HERE but I used Tim Holtz Collage Paper that I’d adhered to Kraft Heavystock and then coated with translucent Nuvo Crystal Drops.

I find it helpful to create custom ephemera, like those tickets, in batches ahead of time so I can create a little quicker when working on a page or project. I stamped and die cut the tickets using the Tim Holtz Ticket Booth sets on the “Contending for the Faith” patterned papers and then distressed the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

The BTW4G label stickers are a great way to add small notes or verses to your project while also bringing visual interest. I leave them on the backer sheet and run it through my typewriter since my handwriting can be a little difficult to read.

This page came together pretty quick since I’d already created several of the pieces ahead of time and I love how I can add some of my notes from the devotional study in a creative way.

Please leave me any questions or comments down below and stay tuned for a tutorial video for the grungy faux metal!
