Illustrated Faith #GOALS Kit

Hello everyone! I’m so excited to finally get a chance to dive into the newest devotional kit from Illustrated Faith and DaySpring! Some of you may know that the #GOALS kit was slightly delayed but, honestly, that gave me a chance to finish up some other projects and recover a little from the holidays before diving into a new devotional kit.

⁵If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. ⁶But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

James 1:5-6

This first session of the devotional is titled #WisdomGoals and we are focusing on James 1:5-6. I was really inspired by the imagery of a doubting person being like the waves of the ocean…tossed about in the wind.

If we don’t have the faith that God is a God who will give us wisdom when we ask for it then we are like the unpredictable waves of the sea. We are influenced and pushed around by the storms that come into our lives when we should be seeking the steadfast anchor of God. He can and will give us the wisdom that we need to navigate through life if we only ask Him for it.

This session of the devotional gives us a couple of prompts that will help you in your faith walk as we are looking to a new year of goals.

I personally will be continually asking God for wisdom in regards to our church. This has been a very rough year for us with the lead pastor having to step down due to misconduct. I’ve had my faith tested in ways that I never imagined and this year I’m looking forward to strengthening my faith and really focusing in on what God’s plan is for me, my family, and our church family.
