Hello everyone! I AM SO EXCITED!! The new Illustrating Bible from Illustrated Faith and DaySpring is finally available and I’m here to show you all of the details. This is going to be a very in depth blog post but I think it’ll be great to have as a reference as you are looking at this new Bible. Be sure to grab a snack and checkout the review video below for more information. (I was sent this Bible for review by DaySpring but all opinions are my own)
This journaling Bible is AMAZING! And BEAUTIFUL!
Here’s a quick look at some of the features:
- Christian Standard Bible translation
- Dimensions: 9.25″W x 9.25″H x 2″D
- Packaged Size: 11.75″W x 13.75″W
- Rose gold faux leather cover
- Copper foil stamping detail
- Spiral bound
- Faux suede liner on inside covers
- 936 pages
- 8 pt. font size
- Single column
- Pages are 75% thicker than regular journaling Bibles to reduce bleed through
- Blank 3 3/4″ wide margins
- Keepsake box with telescoping sides to grow with and protect your Bible
This Bible is large but look at all of that space for creating! I love that this opens up the possibilities for larger artwork without having to worry about covering up any Bible text.
Thicker pages means less bleed through and I know you’ll be excited about that! You might want to Pin these images to have on hand for reference when grabbing different products to use in your Bible 😉

Watercolor
For this entry in Genesis 1:1, I wanted to see how these thicker pages responded to lots of water, paint, and abuse. This page has about 5 layers of water/paint and you can see this resulted in very little to no bleed through, the page didn’t fall apart, and the wrinkling was minimal once it had dried.

Scrapbooking/Memory Documenting
This entry for Genesis 2:24-25 is my absolute favorite and is a great example of how you can use this Bible as a legacy Bible to be passed down in your family or to give as a gift for memory documenting. I’m constantly inspired by scrapbook layouts but a lot of the designs wouldn’t translate well into a smaller Bible margin. Well now we can play with bigger photos, cut files, and large ephemera pieces…all while staying in the margins and not worrying about covering text.
BONUS: HERE is a free cut file for the “love” piece that I backed with papers from the Illustrated Faith You Are Loved Collection.

Mixed Media
This entry in Psalm 18:35 was inspired by a mixed media entry that I created in the 100 Days of Bible Promises book. I love exploring with mixed media products, like texture paste through a stencil, and now I can get that look without covering the text or dealing with bleed through.

Distress Ink Smooshing
One of my favorite background techniques is “smooshing” with Distress Inks or Distress Oxide Inks. These inks typically bleed through journaling Bible pages but I was really impressed with how they worked for this entry in Psalm 143:10 (very minimal bleed through with several layers of inks). I also love that there is plenty of room in the Psalms for using some of those larger die cuts, like the ones from the Illustrated Faith All People All Nations Collection.

Large Ephemera Pieces & Big Titles
I had a photo of a card with that scallop design pinned for years now but didn’t think that it worked in the smaller margins of my regular journaling Bible (that piece is a flap that has some private prayer journaling under it!). I was so excited to finally be able to recreate some of the things I’ve been inspired by in the card making world. This entry in Proverbs 11:17 is also a great example of how you can create different clusters throughout the page without covering up text since there are so many open areas to journal.

Stamping
I’m obsessed with the formula and colors of Gina K. Dye Inks so I was hoping that I could use them in this Bible since the pages are so much thicker. Unfortunately, the pages aren’t quite thick enough to not have bleed through with dye inks (considering everything that I CAN use in this Bible, I’m okay with that). For this entry in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, I went to town (no pun intended LOL) stamping out some houses with a variety of dark and light colored Gina K. inks but you can see that they all bled through. No worries though…you can still achieve this look by using pigment based inks and you shouldn’t have any bleed through.

YOU MADE IT! I know this is a lot of information but I hope it helps with your decision to buy the Illustrating Bible or not.
After all of the testing and experimenting in the new Illustrating Bible, I can say that I am completely obsessed with this new Bible and think you will be too! I can’t wait to share some upcoming process videos with you as I journal my way through this new Bible.
Be sure to check out the review video below (grab a snack and maybe even stream it on your TV so you can be extra comfy because it’s a long one!) and grab the Illustrating Bible from Illustrated Faith and DaySpring for yourself or a friend!
Until next time!

I don’t see how to see this. I already bought the bible on the presale however wondered what the pages were like. Are they thicker so there is less bleed through?

I’d love to know how you created the scalloped look on the page you created based on a card you had in your stash!
