Illustrated Faith All Things New

Hello everyone! Today we are diving into Session 2 of the All Things New devotional kit from Illustrated Faith and DaySpring! You can find my process video at the end of this post as well as over on my YouTube channel.

²Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 ESV

How hard is it to not be conformed to this world?! We are constantly surrounded by advertising and social media which all feed into our fleshly desires. Desires for more status, more money, more beauty…more and more and more. But, this is not how we as Christians are to be focusing our minds. Paul tells us, in Romans, that we are to be “transformed by the renewal of our minds”.

What does this mean exactly? Well, we should be focusing on God and opening up ourselves to His influence and His desires for our life. You might think that this sounds like a more boring or less fun life but I think you’ll actually find that your life is filled with more joy. God is easily attainable for those who desire Him unlike that beautiful multi-million dollar home that some of us might dream about.

All that “stuff” if just temporary but a life filled with a desire for God is eternal. I’m constantly praying and asking the Holy Spirit’s help to focus my life to be in line with God and not what I want or feel.
