Bible Journaling Process | Serve

open

Hello everyone! Today’s Bible journaling entry ended up having two separate take aways as I went through the process. To see how the page came together and hear my thoughts on covering the Bible text V.S. not covering the text then checkout the process video at the end of this post or over on my YouTube channel.

24 Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you. 1 Samuel 12:24

Sometimes when I’m not sure where to spend time Bible journaling I’ll look to the suggested verses on the Illustrated Faith printables and that’s how this page started. This verse made me think about my role in Women’s Ministry and serving the women in my local church.

Our church has been through a lot recently and I found myself in a season where I was really struggling with whether I should stay on the Women’s Ministry team or even whether we would be staying at our church. The last few months I’ve been doing a lot of praying and spending a lot of time just trying to listen to how God was directing me in these areas. Over the last few weeks I feel like God has made it clear that I’m right where He’d have me and now I can focus on serving my church with a happy heart.

And we are to serve with a ‘happy heart’…not a “I’m doing this because it’s the right thing to do and it looks good to others” heart. I will be the first to admit that I’m guilty of having served that way but it’s something I’m really trying to work on. Serving in the church is one of those things that can be really hard for some people but is a vital part of being in a church family.

When we serve others, it’s easier to love others, and when we love others it’s easier to go through difficult times together. If I hadn’t served in my church it would have been a lot easier to just pick up and leave when things got difficult but instead we had a connection and a love for the people there that made us want to stick it out. This is the type of church that God desires for us to be a part of…not just a building full of people who show up on Sunday but a group of people who love, serve, and grow together in Christ.

Be sure to checkout the process video to see how the entry came together and hear my thoughts about whether or not to cover the Bible text.
