This Is Love | Mixed Media Alphas

Hello everyone! Today I have a tutorial for you that I couldn’t wait to share! I’ve been playing around with Distress Oxide Inks and thought this technique went really well with the textured, mixed media look of the This Is Love devotional kit from Illustrated Faith and DaySpring.

I used Distress Oxide Inks on glossy photo paper but you can play around with alcohol inks, markers, cardstock, watercolor, etc. to see what different effects you get. I love the mystery reveal that you get when you wipe off the oxidation of the Distress Oxide Inks to reveal the marbleized yumminess underneath!

I chose to use alpha dies to cut mine but you can play around with different shaped dies or even just hand cut out letters. Dies can get pretty expensive but I look for ones that I know I’ll get a lot of use out of like a good set of alphas.

I ran the alphas through my Xyron sticker maker to make them like alpha stickers and easier to apply. To finish out my page I played around with some Brea Reese Texture Sand and NeoColor II Crayons. To add even more texture, I added some stitched details to the tab cluster and the die cuts at the bottom of the page.
