Hello everyone! I recently shared a video process on my Youtube channel featuring Bible Journaling on a budget and it was a big hit so I thought I’d do another one!
Some of you may know that Crayola markers are a huge “no-no” in our Bibles since they bleed through terribly but we also want to be able to Bible journal with out spending a lot of money if possible.
With just a small investment in some clear gesso you can really increase the variety of products that can be used on the thin pages of your journaling Bible. For this video I used the Art Basics Clear Gesso that can be picked up from Michael’s for about $9.99…add on a coupon and it really makes it affordable. (I found mine where the Gelatos and Distress products are located)
Clear gesso creates a barrier on the page so that products can’t sink down into the page and bleed through to the back. For extra security, I like to add two or three coats of the gesso just to be sure that I get every bit of the page covered and protected.
Once the gesso is 100% dry, you can really use whatever you want…dye inks, permanent markers, crayola markers, etc.
So raid your kids craft supplies and go crazy with your Bible journaling! Check out my process video below to see how I used some simple Crayola markers to create this watercolor style background and some easy florals.

Really love your work. Just wondering what the title and author’s name was for the devotional you mentioned in this video. I live in Australia, I’d like to find it here. If they sell it.
