Psalm 94:18-19 | Bible Journaling Process

Hello Everyone! Today I’m working in Psalm 94:18-19 and have a really fun way to add a background using Heidi Swapp Color Shine, Matte Gel Medium, and stencils. You can find the video tutorial over on my YouTube channel for more details on the process!

Before I even knew what Bible journaling was, I was obsessed with all kinds of different crafting. During this time I had acquired some Heidi Swapp Color Shine sprays which are beautiful but unfortunately bleed through our thin Bible pages. I love playing with texture paste through a stencil but it covers up the text so I set out to find a way to use my sprays and also have a textured stencil background.

Enter in Matte Gel Medium! I found that I could mix a little bit of the Heidi Swapp Color Shine with the Gel Medium and apply it through a thin stencil for a beautiful background that still allows me to read the text. You could easily do this with Tim Holtz Distress Inks and possibly some other mists…just play around before applying to your Bible pages.

(I like to make my my own stencils using my Silhouette Cameo but you can definitely find some amazing stencils at your local craft stores or make your own with cardstock. If you are using a Silhouette Cameo, I like to use the plastic page dividers and I use the settings: Blade 3, Speed 2, Thickness 33.)

I then added some Illustrated Faith Die Cuts, Alpha Stickers, and Enamel Hearts to finish off the page.

The end result is pretty but a little cluttered which I think is a good representation of our anxious hearts at times.

18 When I thought, “My foot slips,” your steadfast love, O Lord, held me up. 19 When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul. Psalm 94:18-19

It isn’t always bad things that can cause us to be anxious. Sometimes if we have too much of a good thing (family, ministries, work, etc.) we can begin to have an anxious heart. I have this about the middle of the school year when I’m trying to put 110% into being a mom, wife, ministry leader/participant, run a home business, etc. and my body finally tells me it’s time to take a break because I can’t do it all.

It’s during this time that I have to dive into the Word and readjust my focus onto God and what it is that He would have me do. Only He can “calm my anxious heart”!

What are some things that you do to help calm your anxious heart, leave a comment down below?!

Be sure to make your way over to my YouTube channel to see the tutorial for this page and links to the products used!

Until next time!
